That’s how quickly you can make healthy cookie dough for spooning yourself

At the latest since the famous Cookie Dough ice cream from “Ben & Jerry’s” we are crazy about cookie dough. Meanwhile there are even pure Cookie-Dough bars that sell nothing but raw cookie dough – almost like an ice cream parlor, instead of ice cream there is cookie dough to nibble on. Besides the sensational taste, the trend is probably also due to the fact that cookie dough brings back memories of childhood.

After all, who in the past did not like to lick the leftovers of the cookie or cake dough out of the bowl? However, unbaked cookie dough can cause stomach aches – usually due to the flour, which is only digestible after baking. Our vegan Cookie Dough, on the other hand, is easy on your stomach and at the same time tastes like the cookie dough from the bowl of yesteryear – only healthier.

What is cookie dough made of?

Normal cookie dough consists mainly of flour, sugar and lots of butter. Just by reading it we get a sugar shock and a bad conscience. These ingredients offer your body only empty calories, unhealthy fat and lots of sugar, but no added value in the form of vitamins, minerals and trace elements.

So sugar damages your health

With the main ingredient of our cookie dough it looks quite different. Depending on the recipe, the subtleties of Cookie Dough vary, but the main ingredient is always the same: chickpeas. They contain a fraction of the calories of butter, sugar and the like. (305 calories per 100 grams in the dried state), hardly any fat and with 2.2 grams of protein even a reasonable portion of protein for a snack or a healthy dessert.

Chickpeas also contain a lot of iron (6.1 grams per 100 grams), making them a great source of iron (not only) for vegetarians and vegans. As a component of the blood, iron is responsible for oxygen transport, among other things. In addition, legumes contain 124 milligrams of calcium, which is even more than milk (which contains 120 milligrams of calcium per 100 grams). This mineral not only ensures strong bones, it is also important for the transmission of stimuli in the nerve cells.

What’s the fastest way to prepare Cookie Dough?

At first glance, chickpeas have more to do with stews and curries than with cookie dough. But if the chickpeas are pureed and processed to a creamy consistency, things look quite different. Due to their delicate taste they also form a great base, which can then be refined with bananas or dates, as well as with chocolate chips (but please the dark version). To make the chickpeas creamy and melt on the tongue, you have to puree them.

The easiest way to do this is to use a chopper or a hand blender.

Basic recipe for vegan Cookie Dough with banana:

This Cookie Dough comes pretty close to real cookie dough. The banana makes the cookie dough nice and creamy and pleasantly sweet. But be sure to use an overripe banana, which contains more sugar than green-yellow bananas.

The sweetness here does not come from bananas, but from dates. Although they are a bit harder to mix, they give a wonderful caramel taste that reminds of holidays.
